This documentary, produced by the ALLATRA Global Research Center is the result of an extensive scientific investigation into one of the potentially most significant environmental and public health challenges of the 21st century: micro- and nanoplastic pollution. It presents this topic in an accessible popular science format.

Plastic has become a symbol of technological progress: lightweight, durable, and remarkably long-lasting. Yet humanity may have overlooked something important – the very material created to improve our lives could, in some respects, also pose risks to it.

There is growing concern that society may underestimate the potential scale of the threat posed by plastic pollution. The issue appears to extend beyond landfills and floating garbage patches in the world's oceans. Increasingly, researchers are turning their attention to the microscopic level: studies show that nanoplastics may be able to penetrate biological barriers and accumulate within living organisms, including humans.

This documentary brings together recent scientific data and insights from a range of experts. It explores how micro- and nanoplastics may affect ecosystems and human health, and why understanding the possible magnitude of this issue could be important for the future of our planet.

Recent studies indicate that micro- and nanoplastics may accumulate and retain electrostatic charges over extended periods. In this film, this property is examined as a possible factor in their potentially harmful effects – an angle that has rarely been explored before. This perspective offers a new way to consider the risks of plastics through the lens of their electrostatic activity.

The film presents emerging scientific findings on the possible scale and consequences of micro- and nanoplastic contamination, including:

• The detection of plastic particles in air, water, food, and the human body – across a wide range of regions.

• Potential effects of micro- and nanoplastics on human health, which research has associated with:
